Electronics prototype is made from idea of a desired operation, electronic schematics, PCB design all the way to ordering bare PCB, ordering electrical parts and assembly of electronics. It's usually also extensively tested and measured, then technical documentation is prepared for series production.
Mechanics
mechanical prototypes are often design in 3D CAD environment and than produced in CAM environment with 3D printers, CNC mills or lathes etc. Mechanical prototypes are often manually reworked or redesigned during prototyping process.
