Gimbal stabilizers are extremely complex but also very useful devices for stabilizing cameras or sensors. They are usually made of real carbon fiber or aluminium. For operation they use 3 axis gyroscope and 3 axis accelerometer and sometimes GPS and compass sensors for anti-drift operation. They work on PID closed loop systems with special brushless motors as actuators.
I’ve developed over 10 different gimbal designs for various camera sizes and sensors. On first gimbals I’ve used custom rewound brushless motors in the past, while now there is a lot of specialized equipment available on market for custom builds.
